One Year Later: How Sal Fiore is Keeping the Pedals Turning at The Pedal Cycle
Sal Fiore isn’t just riding momentum—he’s pedaling it.
Back for his second appearance on the Grit Won’t Quit podcast, Sal gave us an energizing update on The Pedal Cycle, the high-energy party bike business now rolling through both Seaside and Beach Haven. A year into ownership, Sal has turned what was once a solo effort into a multi-location brand that’s part entertainment, part tourism, and all good vibes.
From Solo Hustle to a Growing Team
Last summer, Sal was managing the rides almost entirely on his own. This season, he’s built a reliable team of drivers who help guide groups through two-hour party tours. Whether it’s cruising through Seaside or exploring the heart of LBI, The Pedal Cycle offers a unique experience: a rolling bar crawl with music, lights, and lots of laughs.
Each ride includes stops at local hotspots—think Spicy’s, JR’s, and Hooks in Seaside or Tucker’s and Bird & Betty’s in Beach Haven. Riders bring their own beverages and playlists, creating a choose-your-own-adventure vibe as they pedal from stop to stop.
“It’s honestly just a mood,” Sal said. “People are pedaling, singing, dancing—it catches eyes wherever we go.”
Expanding the Vision
With two bikes up and running, Sal isn’t slowing down. He’s got a third bike in the wings and his sights set on Monmouth County, especially Belmar. While he’s hit some red tape at the town council level, Sal remains optimistic that The Pedal Cycle would be a perfect fit for the area. “I’ve got the bike. I’ve got the insurance. I’m ready when they are.”
Sal’s persistence is a reflection of his entrepreneurial mindset—one that’s always thinking a few turns ahead. “I’m never satisfied,” he admitted. “It’s a good thing and a bad thing, but it’s what keeps me pushing.”
Getting the Word Out
Running a pedal-powered party business in seasonal towns has its challenges, especially when it comes to marketing. Sal’s approach? A mix of old-school hustle and modern strategy. He’s partnered with realtors to include The Pedal Cycle in vacation rental welcome bags (aka “buoy bags”), joined multiple Chambers of Commerce, and teamed up with party planning platforms like Let’s Batch to reach bachelorette groups.
He’s even tapped local influencers to help spread the word, proving that a little creativity goes a long way when you don’t have a massive marketing budget. “Expansion—always, in all ways,” he quoted, channeling real estate mogul Ryan Serhant.
The Vibe is for Everyone
You might assume this party bike is just for 20-somethings looking for a wild night out—but Sal’s seen it all. From multi-generational family vacations to 55+ singles groups from Staten Island, The Pedal Cycle is open to anyone over 21 looking for a unique way to enjoy the Jersey Shore.
“It’s not just for the young crowd,” Sal explained. “We’ve had families, parents with their grown kids, and even groups in their 60s and 70s. It really is a shared experience.”
Rolling into the Future
Despite the hurdles—from staffing and scheduling to updating his Google Business profile—Sal remains committed to the ride. He’s always experimenting, always learning, and always looking for the next opportunity to grow.
“We say it’s a pedal experience,” he said. “Because that’s really what it is. Lights, music, laughs—it’s something you don’t see every day.”
